Cannabis, Kratom & CBD for Multiple Sclerosis

YouTube video of me USING kratom! πŸ€œπŸΎπŸ€›πŸΎπŸ–€β™ΏπŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨

It’s 2020 and I’m investing more and more of my health in myself, yoga, meditation, exercise, water, sun, time, etc. At this point of my life, I’m a huuuuuge fan of Eastern Medicine, it’s old ways and just anything that is “natural”. By “natural,” I’m talking about stuff not sold in pharmacies so cannabis, CBD, kratom, alkaline waters, teas, herbal cremes, blah blah blah. I’m rocking the Incurable Trinity of Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Spondylosis and Ulcerative Colitis but I don’t have healthcare anymore, way too expensive and my lesions almost TRIPLED over the initial 6months of disease modifying drugs. Over the past three years, I’ve developed a basic diet that promotes my best health (Pescatarian) and daily routines of Gratitude, Attitude, Passion. For this post, I’m focused on cannabis, CBD and kratom.

Cannabis

Y’all know this ain’t my first post on cannabis. πŸ˜‰πŸ€£πŸ€£ I actually went deep on the subject after spending Christmas in Colorado. Yes, I went to Colorado JUST for the cannabis and yup, took the family too. #FightMe Basics start with this; sativa is your ‘upper’ and indica is your ‘downer’. Sativa is for energy. Indica is for sleep. Indica is the pain reliever. Sativa is the anti-inflammatory. Now that THAT is out the way, I use cannabis pretty much according to those basics. When I’m unable to have specific strains, I do my best with regular weed or just turn regular weed into edibles and tinctures. Tinctures are cannabis infused everclear and I use them to stop tremors.

CBD

CBD is very hit-or-miss for me. Without diving into definitions, CBD is cannabis oil stripped of the THC mind-altering compound. I do NOT use it for pain relief. Nope. Sure, some patches helped at first but within hours I was back at square one. Instead, I use CBD to keep myself together on tough days. Like tough days of neurosis, loss of movement, tingling, laborious breathing, inability to use RR… πŸ˜‘πŸ’ͺ🏾 On those days, CBD absolutely levels me out, keeps me calm. None of the symptoms are relieved, rather I’m able to compartmentalize, process and move forward. It’s similar to the benefit of cannabis but on a much smaller level. In a bind, a few drops into a full shot of vodka have calmed a tremor. 😎

Kratom

Kratom is the new-kid-on-the-block for me. Some MS’ers that skip medicines, like myself, began pushing kratom to me in 2019. “Outlaw! You gotta try kratom! It’s amaze-balls. It’s…” Ohhhhhhh y’all. πŸ™„ They pushed kratom like I pump Gratitudes. It took awhile but shhhhhhhiiiiii… I’m digging it. Kratom is a Southeast Asian tree root ground into a fine powder. For centuries, it was used as a pain reliever over there. Well, I can testify that it WORKS. It hits me like a Tylenol or Ibuprofen which is PERFECT because I have Ulcerative Colitis. (Tylenol/Ibuprofen cause stomach bleeding and aggravate ulcers. 😭😭) How effective is the pain relief? Very. I slipped a disc and pinched a nerve which kept me couch-bound for a month. I struggled mightily with my yoga (I know, I know. I’m married with kids so my family warns me constantly). Well; anywho, I took that disgustingly, bitter ashtray of kratom and felt so good that I hurt myself four days in a row doing too much. REALLY. Of course, I was hurting before, during and after but the during was soooo goooood. I pushed my limits, meditated longer, and generally felt better for a couple hours. Nope. I wasn’t playing either. That kratom tasted like a disgustingly, bitter handful of ashes. YUCK.

  1. MSOutlaw,
Great perspective and description of these natural remedies.
I’ve tried all 3, and have to say cannabis works the best for me.
    Love your positive outlook!

Hi Outlaw! I’m a fellow MS’er and KRATOM lovers (maybe not the taste) It has done wonder for me! So much so I’m an advocate to keep pure Kratom LEGAL!
